OoTD: Skater Chicks Will Never Die

Sometimes when I can’t decide what to wear, I choose something that I haven’t worn in a long time, I set my mind furiously to wearing it and then style it accordingly. Last Sunday – It was my Mummy Catsuit from Black Milk Clothing ๐Ÿ™‚

This mummy catsuit is one of my absolute faves and thats partially to because how hard it is to style! It’s so incredibly magical – it’s almost a sin to cover it up. I decided to put a dash of casual by covering up slightly with an old denim vest that I got from an Op Shop. My Big Litas from Jeffery Campbell are my usual go to staple shoes as well – I love them because they can be grunge or glammed. They got dragged out to town the other night though and one of the eyelets fell out, nothing a bit of DIY couldn’t fix though ๐Ÿ™‚ My awesome Catseye sunnies are from Max, I got them on sale at the outlet store, and so far I’m in love!

So a super exciting thing happened in the Sunday morning as well! My friend bought over her longboard and it was so incredibly fun and awesome! I’ve always wanted to feel like a cool skater chick (blame Avril Lavigne) but unfortunately, balance and I didn’t mix. So when I tried longboarding, and I got the hang of it pretty quick, I thought – pfft – skateboarding is so mainstream, longboarding is waaaaaay cooler and totally hipster. If skateboarding was ever mean to you, I definitely recommend trying out longboarding! I can’t wait to do more when the weather clears up.

As you can see above – I was extremely ecstatic that I was actually SUCCESSFUL on a longboard!

Over and out,

OoTD: Owls and Comfort

Today was a really nice and cruisy day filled with shopping and planning. A really good friend of mine and I are going to Vegas in 11 days, 17 hours and 37 minutes (EEEEE!) and we’re doing all our shopping for bits and pieces ๐Ÿ™‚ We ended up going to Dressmart and yeah – Dressmart on a Saturday around midday? Not a good idea, it was SO PACKED.

Also, Auckland is doing this super lame thing at the moment where spring is actually colder than winter and it reeeeally loves to rain. Skimpy was definitely not an option!

I went with my comfort staple – my Midnight Owls dress from Black Milk Clothing. It’s such a beautiful go-to piece and you can dress it up or down so easily. Another awesome thing is that the actual artwork was drawn by a sharkie as well! Check her work out on https://www.facebook.com/pages/Charlotte-Legrands-Art/553180131379332?fref=ts

I got the jumper from Glassons and it’s Merino Wool. Which means it’s super warm and comfy and fluffy but holy crap does the wool get EVERYWHERE. Good thing nylon is so amazing and doesn’t pick up on fluff!

Sometimes when you just wanna chill and cruise, a nice dress and a snuggly jumper is just what you need, and you can still look good at the same time as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

Good night and sweetest dreams everyone!

OoTD: Bringing back Summer – Mermaid Style

It’s not very often I get a nice cruisey day where I can wake up whatever time I want, do my exercise and grocery shopping in my own time, and just generally relax, so when they come I tend to appreciate it as much as I can!

As my first OoTD post, I wanted to wear a piece that was dear to my heart – my mermaid capsleeve bodysuit from Black Milk Clothing was my first body/swim and it still remains as one of my favourites! So versatile, you can wear it with cute denim cutoffs or long and flowy skirts. A really sweet feature about Black Milk Clothing is that when you upload a photo on Instagram, you can hashtag it and it’ll show up on the products page! It’s always such an awesome thing to be able to see how everyone else styles their pieces. Check out the Mermaid CSBS here – http://blackmilkclothing.com/collections/bodysuits/products/mermaid-cap-sleeve-bodysuit

I remember a time last year when I went obsessive about owning a pleated maxi skirt and I was so happy when I found this one for super cheap in Glassons! It totally has an awesome summer vibe to it, and I seriously cannot wait for summer!!

The biggest thing I’m looking forward to in summer is and has always been being able to wear as little clothes as possible and soaking up all those nom nom sunrays! What are you faves things about summer?

REVIEW: Crave!

After a mad 2 weeks of working at both NZFW and Auckland Home Show, (don’t know what I was thinking) I agreed to do a shoot the very next Monday for the crazily talented Yolanda from Body FX for her collection of pasties and other delicious allsorts.

With a 8.30am start, I dragged my sorry ass out of bed and made my way to Kingsland. For jobs, I like to get there super early to make sure my stuff is all sorted so that I take on some form of resemblance of someone who knows what they’re doing.

Arriving in Kingsland with 20 minutes to spare, I started marching around to look for the closest place I could get a hot chocolate and a small bite to eat when lo and behold, right in front of me was a massive black sign, with the word CRAVE – as if you needed a reason for coffeeย sprawled across it in orange neon lettering. Back tracking around the corner to find this cafe, I walked in, and that was it. I fell in love. It was officially my new favourite cafe and I hadn’t even ordered anything yet!

crave cafe

I was immediately drawn in with its awesome artsy vibe, but as hard as I looked, it didn’t have that Wellingtonion pretension to put me out! It was just, really really awesome and so utterly real and humble. It just was what it was. A large projector projected an America’s Cup Race whilst its visitors all sat by gently watching, sipping on their coffees and talking about the morning news. Tables were adorned with cute vintage mismatched teapots filled with sugar and the special of the day was written on an untuned TV, all while NZ curated art hung on it’s walls like a proud kiwi wearing his or her gumboots in the mud.

I mean SERIOUSLY. Look at it!! SPRINKLES! I would and will eeeeeasily make this my new all time fave hot chocolate, and trust me, I have tried A LOT. Crave Cafe obviously knew the quickest way to my heart!

I was so enthralled by the whole place that I had trouble putting together coherent sentences to the super lovely and awesome waitress who was patiently waiting for my order whilst I stood there gawping. By this point, I had completely forgotten where I was meant to be in about 5 minutes. They put my hot chocolate into a takeaway cup with absolutely no hassle, they even waited for me to take photos of the hot chocolate and the best part about it was, that at no point did they make me feel ridiculous for needing photo evidence of their amazing creation.

Best. Staff. Ever.

Crave is truly a hidden gem of Auckland and I am so happy that I stumbled upon it! If you’re ever in Kingsland, you have to check it out! Their website is http://cafecrave.co.nz/ and their facebook isย https://www.facebook.com/cafecrave

Twice a year, they close off the road that their on and have a wee party with live bands (woo!) I’ll check out the next one and let you guys know!

Lots of Love,

ps. I pretty much decided to start my blog just so that I could rave on and on about Crave!
